Episode 17
Dungeon Management.
I thought about various names, but the most appropriate one was ‘Management’.
It’s okay to call it a guild, but it’s not the exclusive domain of hunters, it’s a project to be carried out together with civilians.
And if you call it a ‘guild’, people may mistakenly think that it will follow the same path as what the guild has done so far.
What I want to do is for monsters to come out and mingle with people.
No longer being strangers to each other, finding their own place in this world and adapting to life.
That was my first goal.
The first thing to do is to help the monsters adapt to this world, and I plan to decide what to do next depending on how it progresses.
I won’t paint a big picture right now.
If you set a goal that is too unreasonable, you may go down the wrong path to achieve it.
If I go down the wrong path, no one can stop me, so I have to move carefully.
“So I’d like you two to help.”
After I finished my detailed explanation, the two people tilted their heads with slightly puzzled expressions.
“Are we?”
“Well, I don’t know if there’s anything I can do.”
The two people who came to the cabin with nervous expressions at my sudden request seemed a little more relaxed than at first.
It seems that asking Seo Ji-han and others to leave the room out of concern that the two might feel burdened was effective.
“First of all, what do you two think? “Interacting with monsters.”
Everyone who was there to adopt this idea was Hunter.
No matter how much the hunters think it will be okay, it is meaningless unless they are actually civilians.
I wanted to hear opinions from civilians’ perspectives.
“Well I guess I’m not bad. Of course, I think it would be a bit too much for all the monsters to come out.”
“me too. When I was taking refuge in a dungeon, I saw some monsters and they seemed okay, right? “What if it’s at that level?”
Assistant Manager Kim nodded and agreed to what Deputy Director Shin said.
“Aren’t you scared?”
“Of course, if you meet someone without knowing anything, it will be scary… but I think you can get used to it. “We got used to it too.”
I guess so… I was nodding my head at Deputy Director Shin’s words, but suddenly Assistant Manager Kim joined in with a playful expression.
“Okay then. Who starts this job? “The hero who saved the world is doing it in the name of something, but it doesn’t work out.”
“yes?”
“Hey, why are you like that? Moa, you seem to be doing well these days? News about Moa keeps appearing on TV. He is truly a hero for saving the country. “I also saw representatives from around the world surrender not long ago.”
“yes?”
“People really like Moa. What can I say, I’ve done a lot of great things, but I feel even more sad about the fact that I’ve been criticized for no reason. Sometimes I get calls asking if I’m from the same company as Mr. Moa. Where did you know? Those reporters were also incredibly polite. “Usually people like that are annoying and ask about their personal history.”
“yes?”
Ah, the reason those reporters were polite wasn’t because they liked me…
I chose to remain silent instead of explaining.
I didn’t want them to know that I was threatening leaders around the world.
Ugh, because of Assistant Manager Kim, I’m thinking about the dark history remarks again.
“Oh my, Moa, are you embarrassed? Look at your face blushing. “It hasn’t changed at all.”
“Iknow, right. My shy personality hasn’t really changed at all. I can’t believe you blushed like this just because you got a compliment…”
No, that’s not it. Assistant manager and deputy manager. Rather…
“You two haven’t changed at all.”
To be honest, I was a little scared when I found these two people again.
I was worried that they wouldn’t treat me like before. I
was worried that this meeting might lead to disillusionment, but it seems like it was a really vain worry.
“What about us…”
Assistant Manager Kim said. He looked away awkwardly with a shy expression.
Deputy Director Shin smiled softly as if he knew everything and answered in an emotional voice.
“I know. Even I was a little worried about how I would feel when I came here today. But after meeting him, I understand. Mr. Moa is Mr. Moa. “Moa hasn’t changed, so there’s no way I can change, right?”
“It’s not like nothing has changed at all.”
Assistant Manager Kim said quietly. Deputy Director Shin opened his mouth lightly again with that smile on his face.
“that’s right. But I don’t think we really know what’s going to happen to people. “Who knew it would be like this even a year ago?”
really.
Looking back, there were so many amazing things happening at every moment.
When I first awakened, I thought it would be nice to make a good living as an ordinary hunter.
As I was quietly looking back at the past for a moment, Deputy Director Shin blinked and looked straight at me.
“But did you call us to ask this? What do you think from a civilian perspective? Oh, I’m not giving you a hand down. I like seeing Moa’s face. “I want to help you with something more, but it’s unfortunate that this is all I can do.”
When I heard Deputy Director Shin’s words, I felt like my eyes were opening.
I was already wondering how to get rid of my luck.
“No, there are a lot of things the conductor can do for you. Assistant Manager Kim too!”
“we?”
“Are we going?”
The assistant manager and deputy manager tilted their heads in confusion at my urgent words.
Knowing the people around me made me even more puzzled.
There were guild leaders like Ban Seo-hu and Yoo Eun-dam, the hunters they had brought in, and even countries that had surrendered to me, and they looked like they were wondering what they could do in the middle of it all.
“Actually, there’s something I want to do, but I have no idea how to start. I hope you two can help. “I brought you here today to ask for that.”
“Um, is there anything we can help you with?”
Deputy Director Shin still looked embarrassed.
I nodded firmly.
“You two have a lot of experience working in the Hunter Market and have also worked in guilds. So, I think you can help me a lot. Even if I start, there will definitely be holes in the details here and there, so what can I do about it…”
Despite my appeal, the two people exchanged glances as if they were very burdened.
Then, Deputy Director Shin stepped forward as the representative.
“Hey, the guy who found us over there ? Thank you, but there are probably many people with that level of work experience. And there are many people who are more capable than us. In fact, we have no experience working in large guilds and most of them were small guilds….” “Of course, that’s right
. If you look at your work experience, it will definitely be that way. But I need someone I can trust.”
“Someone you can trust? “Wouldn’t everything be trustworthy?”
“no. Listen, conductor. The conductor knows this too. What are people in the hunter industry like? “You’ve experienced a lot while working, right?”
“Hmm.”
Okay. The conductor’s expression was shaking.
I gathered momentum and added at once.
“Now, in this situation where all the dungeons have disappeared and the guild’s value has collapsed, I am the manager of the only organization that can communicate with the dungeon. “If this manager puts his mind to it, stealing items from the middle won’t be a problem. Besides, this side is far superior, right?”
“That’s right. Super Gap, no, ultra super Gap.”
The deputy director answered in a happy voice.
“Right? Then, what would happen if we put someone from a large guild who is good at work but has extensive experience in abuse of power in this management position? What if he uses his know-how in abuse of power from a large guild to do something groundbreaking and dirty? And What if I can’t even notice it because of that incredible know-how?”
It seems like the infuriating abuse of power they suffered from large guilds and hunters in the past is coming to mind in the heads of the Deputy Director and Assistant Manager.
I struck the final blow.
“That’s why we need you two. I believe you two won’t do something like that.”
I stared at the deputy chief and assistant manager with my eyes full of trust.
The two people looked a bit burdened and leaned back slightly.
“Thank you for trusting us, Mr. Moa, but you don’t know how people can change depending on the situation. “If you believe that you know someone too much, you can get seriously hurt.”
“That’s right, that’s right. Where do you have faith that they won’t abuse us?”
On the contrary, hearing these words made me believe it more.
Oh wait, isn’t this setting the mood for rejection?
“There is. Those two people are lifesavers.”
Even if you call me cowardly, I can’t help it.
At the last card I drew, the conductor lightly raised his hand and made a gesture of surrender.
“There’s nothing I can say if you say it like that. He’s a lifesaver, but if you hit Moa in the back of the head, you’re not a human being. And that’s my life.” “I saved him twice.”
First, the deputy chief surrendered.
But the deputy manager remained. Deputy
Kim seemed to still be feeling more burdened.
“Thank you, Mr. Moa, but as expected, I’m a bit…”
“Chief manager…”
“Around you. There are a lot of big hunters and there are a lot of people who help Moa, but you’re giving me this offer on purpose to take care of me, right? Thank you, but I’m not confident. I don’t know if I can do it properly among the prominent hunters…” Hesitating assistant manager
. At those words, even the conductor had a solemn look on his face.
“Have you talked to people around you, Mr. Moa? There is also a guild leader, right? “I don’t think I’m better than those people.”
The assistant manager repeatedly refused.
But if it turns out that way, there is something to be said here too.
“Of course, we’ve already talked about it among ourselves.”
At my words, the thought ‘Of course’ appeared on both people’s faces.
