The hostility in Michael’s eyes was so great that it looked like he was about to kill her with his gaze alone. He then left without a single word.
Chiara’s lips curled upward. Her poise was one of elegance and regality.
Unbothered, Ivanka looked away and continued the discussion with Flint.
After the discussion was over, Ivanka called a cab.
She touched her neck habitually, and her expression changed suddenly.
Where did her necklace go?!
“Sir, please turn around and go back to the Imperial Mansion.”
She must have been in a hurry to leave and forgot to put it on.
After an hour, Ivanka entered the mansion.
The moment she entered the bedroom, Michael was already standing before her dresser. He was lost in his thoughts as he examined his watch.
Ivanka was puzzled. Over the past three years of their marriage, he had never entered their bedroom.
Today, he was looking at the watch that she once gave him.
He used to despise the watch and threw it on the floor. Ivanka was the one who had glued the broken pieces back together. Despite it being a defective product by then, she was reluctant to throw it away.
Michael sensed her gaze. When he turned around, he met her indifferent gaze. He smirked and carelessly tossed the watch on the dresser.
“Why did you leave the broken watch here? Do you think I’m a garbage collector?”
The corners of Ivanka’s lips twitched. “Throw it away, then.”
Michael was shocked.
She used to care about the watch so much, but she was showing such a lack of care for it at the moment?
That’s right.
She no longer loved him.
Otherwise, why would she go out on a date with a stranger and chat happily with him?
Michael was livid. His face darkened, and he said, “Ivanka, did you agree to the divorce because you’re seeing someone else?
Ivanka laughed. “If that’s what you think, then sure, why not?”
After she finished speaking, she walked to the dresser. She pulled open the drawer and took out a jewelry box.
The two of them were close to each other, but she did not even bother to give him a glance. She turned around and walked out.
Michael looked angry. He grabbed her wrist. “Is this a place where you can come and go whenever you please?!”
Ivanka could not break herself free of his grasp. She looked at him in puzzlement. “What do you want, then?”
In her mind, she thought. “He’s so unreasonable !
How is it that I’ve never noticed that he’s so unpredictable?”
Ivanka kept struggling, but Michael kept a tight hold over her wrist and said darkly, “Grandma wants to see you. You’re coming with me to the mansion tonight.”
Ivanka frowned. She looked at Michael as if he was an idiot. “Mr. Barkworth, do you have a few screws loose in your head? Even if you want to bring someone to the mansion, it should be Chiara.”
Michael’s expression darkened even further upon hearing her words. “I told you, Grandma wants to see you. Did you actually think I’d want to spend time with you alone?”
Ivanka scoffed, “Whenever Grandma wanted to see me in the past, you always found an excuse to avoid bringing me over. Why must I go with you today?”
Michael gave a mocking bark of laughter. “Ivanka, you know just how much Grandma took care of you in the past. Did you forget all that she did for you after our divorce?”
Ivanka pursed her lips. Indeed, Grandma was the only one among the Barkworths who had been nice to her throughout the years. Grandma took care of her feelings. She knew Michael did not care about Ivanka, hence she pitied Ivanka and often did all sorts of things for her to make it up to her.
In fact, Grandma treated Ivanka so well that Ivanka even felt like her biological granddaughter.
Therefore, Ivanka was reluctant to turn her down.
Michael felt slightly relieved. He started talking to her harshly again. “In the past, you always asked about Grandma’s wellbeing. Now, you’re completely ignoring her. Ivanka, I never knew you were so rude.
Do you cast people away the moment they’ve outlived their worth to you?”
“I’m not that kind of person!” Ivanka glared at him.
Michael snorted. “Then, come with me now!”
